We talked with Enigma about this and he confirmed that it is ok to do, it is been passed around among players so we can not be credited for figuring it out. There currently seems to be an issue with the shaderscache folder located in your TCOS data/cache directory which causes slower game(The Chronicles of Spellborn Gold) performance. If you do the following you should notice an increase in overall game performance.

Including being able to alt tab or go between window and full screen mode considerably faster. You should also notice an increase in loading zones as well as logging into the game. You may even experience(TCOS Gold) a framerate increase during gameplay as we have. Open your TCOS folder, open the data folder, open the cache folder:
                                                                  

Here you will see a folder called "shaderscache", delete it. Do not worry if you delete this folder and leave nothing in cache it will remake it when you login. However, we do not want it to remake itself as that is whats causing the slowdown. So do this: As we said delete the shaderscache folder. Now create a text file, delete the.txt extension at the end of the file and rename the file to "shaderscache" without the quotes.

Right click on the file you just created and go to properties. Now check the box that says read only. This will prevent the game from recreating the shaderscache folder. Now launch spellborn and enjoy your performance increase. When we spoke to Enigma he checked with the dev's and said it was ok to do this. If a GM could sticky this if it is still ok to do and let everyone know that we are not making this up that would be great Smile.

If you are lurking around when they announce redevelopment you can easily hop on your character(The Chronicles of Spellborn Gold) to flag it again as active prior to any patch being rolled out. This is for those folks who have walked, but who are taking up names in the database that new and active players would be able to actually enjoy. This is not anything personal. We have the name we wanted.

However it seems like folks have done a bit of name hoarding on this game(TCOS Gold), as one of the chief complaints we recieve from people who we recommend this game to is that all their names are taken. How many of those occupied names are on inactive accounts. We will not know unless we purge accounts. Most MMO companies do a database purge once ever 6 months to a year. Its been a standard practice since before 2000 in order to handle database bloat.
